Scientists have linked walks in snowy or frosty environments to a significant boost in psychological well-being.
Polish researchers recruited 87 women and asked them to go on a walk for about 40 minutes in an area covered in snow.
A questionnaire was filled in before and after the chilly stroll to gauge how people felt about themselves.
Post-walk scores averaged out to be 3.9 on this scale, while before the walk, it was 3.61, indicating higher levels of self-appreciation.
Scientists say that natural “white spaces” are the reason for the improvement one sees in their body image.
Earlier studies have proven the value of green and blue spaces, but none had explored the specific impact of winter weather.
