Detroit Tigers assistant general manager Sam Menzin has resigned from his role after it was alleged he sent unsolicited lewd photos to colleagues.
According to The Athletic, Menzin was set to be fired by the organization after the Tigers launched an investigation into the allegations.
“Upon being made aware of the allegations as to Sam Menzin's conduct, the Club promptly completed an investigation. Before the Club could terminate Mr. Menzin, he resigned. This type of behavior is contrary to our standards and has absolutely no place within our organization,” said the Detroit Tigers.
The allegations stem from two women who told The Athletic that they received unsolicited lewd photos from Menzin on the app Snapchat.
The women also note that they received photos from the 34-year-old on several occasions stretching as far back as 2017.
A third woman, who works in baseball but isn't employed by the Tigers, also told The Athletic that she received similar photos from Menzin around 2018-19.
Detroit, who weren't made aware of the allegations until recently, hired Menzin during Dave Dombrowski's term as team president.
Menzin was promoted to director of baseball operations and pro scouting in 2015 before becoming the Tigers' vice president and assistant general manager in 2021.
