President Trump described Shohei Ohtani as "a movie star" during the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers' visit to the White House.
Ohtani won the National League MVP award last season after hitting .390 with 54 home runs, 59 stolen bases, a .390 on-base percentage, and 130 runs batted in in 159 games.
President Trump praised Ohtani's accomplishments and said, “His future is bright," with the Japanese star specially invited to the Oval Office and presented with two commemorative medals.
After the visit, Otani said, “I felt a sense of history, it was beautiful, and I was honored to be in the Oval Office, which I had only seen on film."
The Dodgers also presented President Trump with a uniform with his name on it, numbered “47” in honor of the 47th president.
This was Ohtani's first visit to the White House, and he will have the opportunity to visit once more if his team wins the World Series again.
When asked by a reporter if he would like to visit the White House again next year, Otani replied, “Yes. Of course, I would like to visit the White House as many times as I can, one win at a time."
Ohtani also noted that President Trump "was taller than I thought he would be."
