Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has agreed to a 14-year, $500 million contract extension with the team.
The deal is the third largest in MLB history, behind Juan Soto's contract with the New York Mets and Shohei Ohtani's agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Guerrero's extension is also the largest in league history, trumping Mike Trout's $426.5 million extension with the Los Angeles Angels in 2019.
Entering 2025, Guerrero clocked a career 160 home runs and 177 doubles while also posting splits of .288/.363/.500 in his six seasons in the league.
The 26-year-old has received four straight All-Star selections along with two Silver Slugger awards and one Gold Glove honor.
Guerrero was set to enter free agency following the 2025 season, with both Toronto and the player failing to agree on a long-term outcome prior to the self-imposed deadline in February.
However, team president Mark Shapiro has remained confident throughout the process, recently noting that “I think we're going to extend him.”
