Americans get scam messages nearly twice as often as people in other countries, according to a new global survey of over 10,000 adults. On average, Americans face nine scam calls, nine scam emails, and seven scam texts each week, adding up to about 100 fraudulent messages per month. Brits report around 84 scam attempts monthly, while Australians see about 52. Americans still top the list for scam frequency overall. The US and UK also lead in the amount of spam emails sitting in their inboxes, each averaging over 350 emails. Scam calls still tempt many. Nearly a third (35%) of Brits answer calls marked “potential spam,” while just 31% of Americans will pick up their phone. Scams now extend into social media too. Globally, people receive an average of five spam messages per week across their social platforms. Three in four people say they're more worried about online privacy now than five years ago, especially when it comes to personal data.
