Most of us buy things that we never actually use, but how can you stop overspending?
We generally impulse buy when we are feeling emotional and need a quick adrenaline or serotonin boost.
If you find something you like, try to think about it for 24 hours before purchasing.
Take a photo of it, or save it in your basket online, and if you are still thinking about it a day later, try going back to it.
Understand the emotional trigger that causes you to overbuy: are you stressed or sad?
If you can identify the pattern, you are more likely to be able to break it.
Plan bigger purchases to save for, like a holiday or car payment. If you have something else to save for, you will be less likely to splurge randomly.
Try to find other ways to give yourself the same kick that shopping gives you, like going for a walk, journaling, or exercising.
Consider every item as an obligation to look after it, and ask yourself if you are willing to clean it, store it, and actually use it.
